Puerto Rican rapper and singer is the latest star to join Darren Aronofsky‘s new movie, .
Based on the novel of the same name by Charlie Huston, the upcoming crime thriller — per the logline — centers on “a burned-out former baseball player” Hank Thompson, “as he’s unwittingly plunged into a wild fight for survival in the downtown criminal underworld of ‘90s NYC.”
The book’s author will also write the script for Caught Stealing. The character Bad Bunny will play in Sony Pictures’ film adaptation is still unknown.
In addition to the Grammy Award winner, Caught Stealing will also star Austin Butler (Masters of the Air), Zoë Kravitz (Mad Max: Fury Road), Regina King (The Harder They Fall), Matt Smith (House of the Dragon), Liev Schreiber (Ray Donovan), and Will Brill (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel).
Caught Stealing will mark Bad Bunny’s next new project with Sony Pictures, following David Leitch’s Bullet Train, which saw the artist starring alongside the likes of Brad Pitt, Joey King, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Logan Lerman, and more.
The global artist, who just recently wrapped his Most Wanted Tour, first delved into acting in Narcos: Mexico, where he played the role of Arturo “Kitty” Paez. His other acting credits include F9 as Lookout and Cassandro as Felipe. He will also serve as the executive producer for Netflix’s upcoming adaptation of Puerto Rican author Adam Silvera’s They Both Die at the End.
Meanwhile, Caught Stealing marks Aronofsky’s return to the director’s chair, following 2022’s award-winning Brendan Fraser-led The Whale. Aronofsky is also the filmmaker behind Pi, Requiem for a Dream, The Fountain, The Wrestler, Black Swan, Mother!, and Noah.
The director will produce the movie along with his Protozoa Pictures partner Ari Handel. No release date has been set yet for Caught Stealing.
