Continuing its quest to make every classic Star Wars video game playable on modern hardware, Aspyr has revealed it's working on bringing Star Wars Episode I: Jedi Power Battles to PS5 and PS4. It'll release on 23rd January 2025, priced at £15.99 / $19.99. PS Plus members get a 10 per cent discount between now and launch. Catch the trailer up above.
«Take back the Theed Palace in this fast and furious lightsaber action game. You will have the power of the Force and your trusty lightsaber to help you ward off legions of battle droids, destroyer droids, assassins, and other creatures from Star Wars: The Phantom Menace,» the PS Store description reveals. In addition to the base set of starting characters, this new version will allow you to play as characters that were previously locked at the start, like Darth Maul and Queen Amidala. The original cast will also be joined by 13 new playable characters like the Tusken Raider and Rifle Droid, as well as a modern control scheme to go alongside the classic option.
«We’ve made enhancements to the character models, environments, and game modes based on the expanded post-PlayStation release, while also preserving elements of the original PlayStation UI,» said Aspyr associate brand manager Reid Broudy. «Enjoy smoother jumps, better balance, and new main menu art that transforms your battle from all of the original versions of the game. Additionally, we’ve included in-game UI toggle options for greater customization, and we’ve brought back Vs Mode and Training Mode from the expanded post-PlayStation release, adding depth and variety to your gameplay.»
