Much like previous updates, Apple’s iPhone 16 is expected to be faster and more efficient when it launches next year; however, some of that speed might be reserved exclusively for the high-end versions of the handset.
Jeff Pu, an analyst from Haitong International Securities says that Apple will offer the new Snapdragon X75 5G modem in the iPhone 16 next year; however, it will only include the modem in the iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max models, Forbes reports.
According to Pu, the latest 5G technology will only appear in the Pro handsets, a move that will further differentiate the Pro models from the standard lineup of the phones.
Pu also thinks that both devices will have a new 48-megapixel ultra-wide camera, an improvement over the existing 12-megapixel camera currently included in the phones, and will have .2-inch larger screens than the current 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch models.
He says the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max will also be powered by an A18 Bionic chipset, and will likely maintain the 8GB of RAM available in current models.
Previous rumors from a different analyst also point to both Pro models getting the tetraprism zoom lens currently included in the iPhone 15 Max.
Of course, with at least 11 months between us and the new phones, a lot can change before the devices are released.
