Apple is planning to upgrade the iPad Pro models with an OLED display next year. The devices are reported to feature changes in terms of design as well as internals but the new display will remain the highlight of the upcoming models. It is now being reported that both models of the iPad Pro will launch with an OLED display in mid-2024. It was previously coined that Apple plans to launch the new models sometime next year but no time frame was specified.
DigiTimes reports that Apple suppliers have begun expanding the capacity for OLED panel production, hinting that the iPad Pro launch could happen soon. If the news has any heft to it, the mid-2024 time frame points to a WWDC 2024 launch of the OLED iPad Pro models. However, nothing can be said for sure at this point since Apple has not shared a word on the scenario.
Other than the launch, the report also mentions that Apple will use a hybrid OLED display for iPad Pro. These hybrid panels will be a mesh of flexible and rigid material, allowing for a more thinner profile of the devices. The company is finally taking the 11-inch iPad Pro seriously as far as the display technology is concerned. Currently, only the 12.9-inch variant of the iPad Pro features a mini-LED panel while the smaller 11-inch model boasts an LCD. However, the OLED display will be available on the 11-inch and the slightly bigger 13-inch iPad Pro.
