While Marvel Studios has mostly explored preexisting, central MCU characters with its Disney+ series, the studio is preparing to venture further out into the MCU, including the upcoming Ironheart. Actor Anthony Ramos, known for In the Heights, Hamilton, and A Star is Born, has joined the cast of Marvel's Ironheart, Deadline reports.
Ramos' role is in the series currently unknown. He'll appear alongside Dominique Thorne, who plays the titular Ironheart, a young inventor named Riri Williams, who becomes a sort of spiritual successor to Iron Man. Williams was created by comics writer Brian Michael Bendis and artist Mike Deodato in 2016.
In the comics, Williams attracts the attention of Tony Stark when she reverse-engineers his armor. Obviously, with the events of Avengers Endgame in mind, she'll have a slightly different arc in the MCU. Kevin Feige said in August 2021 that Williams will debut in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, which is currently set to hit this November 11, before her own series debuts. That could place the Ironheart series right around the release of the Black Panther sequel, or into 2023.
Ramos was one of the original cast members of Hamilton before going on to appear in A Star is Born, Lin Manuel Miranda's In the Heights, and other TV and movie roles. He's also set to appear in the upcoming Transformers: Rise of the Beasts.
