Peacock's Twisted Metal series is slowly coming together, as the streaming service announced its star: Anthony Mackie. The MCU hero will be stepping into the shoes of a milkman for the upcoming action/comedy series, playing a brand-new character.
Mackie will play John Doe, «a smart-ass milkman who talks as fast as he drives,» according to a press release. «With no memory of his past, John gets a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to make his wish of finding community come true, but only if he can survive an onslaught of savage vehicular combat.»
Mackie will also serve as executive producer alongside Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick and Will Arnett and March Forman from Electric Avenue--which recently produced Netflix's Murderville. The live-action adaptation of Twisted Metal is a collaboration between Sony Pictures Television, Playstation Productions, and Universal Television.
Cobra Kai's Michael Jonathan Smith will writer, executive producer, and showrunner for the half-hour series. The series follows someone wanting a better life; however, the only way to achieve that is to deliver a package across a wasteland. They will have the help of a car thief and face marauders looking to rough them up on the open road. And one of these marauders is described as a «deranged clown who drives an all too familiar ice cream truck.» That's right, Sweet Tooth will be in it.
«Twisted Metal is one of PlayStation's most beloved franchises,» said Asad Qizilbash, head of PlayStation Productions. «We are thrilled to have such an amazing creative team and partners working together who have such passion for this iconic property. We can't wait for fans to see what we have planned for them.»
