Twisted Metal has finally found a home. After being largely known for the better part of 2021 and officially confirmed earlier this year at CES, Sony has confirmed that the live-action Twisted Metal adaptation will air on NBCUniversal’s Peacock streaming service.
"Twisted Metal is one of PlayStation's most beloved franchises," said Asad Qizilbash, head of PlayStation Productions. "We are thrilled to have such an amazing creative team and partners working together who have such passion for this iconic property. We can't wait for fans to see what we have planned for them."

The show had been largely known about since early 2021 with the rumors finally being officially confirmed last month. Anthony Mackie (The Falcon And The Winter Soldier, Altered Carbon) will star as John Doe, "a smart-ass milkman who talks as fast as he drives.” Doe wakes up with no memory of his past and enters into the Twisted Metal competition to deliver a package across a desert wasteland filled with bandits and marauders.
One of those marauders just happens to be a “deranged clown who drives an all too familiar ice cream truck,” which sounds like series mascot Sweet Tooth.
Mackie will also executive produce alongside Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick, and Will Arnett, who’s rumored to be the voice of Sweet Tooth. March Forman of Electric Avenue has also signed on as executive producer after recently completing Netflix’s Murderville. Jonathan Smith (Cobra Kai) will both write and head the show.
