Sebastian Stan hilariously realizes Tom Holland is the reason he and Anthony Mackie got The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Stan is currently making the rounds promoting his buzzy Hulu series Pam & Tommy, but for many fans, his most beloved role is still Bucky Barnes in the MCU. He made his debut in the 2011 movie Captain America: The First Avenger and has so far appeared in a total of seven movies (post-credits scenes included). Stan's also received his own solo project in the form of Disney+ series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, which co-starred Mackie.
The Falcon and the Winter Soldier was built upon the chemistry Mackie and Stan share. It first came to both Marvel and fans' attention in 2016's Captain America: Civil War, the first film to properly pair the two together. Stan's Bucky and Mackie's Sam Wilson have a few moments together where they trade quips back and forth, and their bickering dynamic delighted audiences. Three years later, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier was officially announced to be one of Marvel's first Disney+ shows.

Mackie and Stan are a big reason why the show was created, but perhaps someone else deserves some credit. Stan came to a hilarious realization during a recent video with Vanity Fair wherein he revisited some of the biggest projects of his career. While discussing Civil War, he recalled the fight that goes down between Bucky, Sam, and then-MCU newcomer Spider-Man, played by Tom Holland. It's a great moment and even highlights how well Bucky and Sam work together. That's what prompted Stan to realize he might owe Holland more than he wishes. He said:
