The controversial Twitter influencer and alleged human trafficker Andrew Tate has just lost his fourth appeal to gain freedom before his trial in Romania. He’s currently in jail after the Romanian police raided Tate’s home back in December 2022.
Originally famous for his career in kickboxing, Andrew Tate became an internet celebrity after he participated in the British’s 17th season of Big Brother. He was kicked out of the show when a video of him attacking a woman surfaced online and used these controversies to create a prominent career as an internet misogynist and entrepreneur. Tate also created Hustler’s University, in which members received instruction on how to make money online with cryptocurrency, e-commerce, and similar tactics. However, the program has often been called a pyramid scheme by his detractors. His arrest happened just after he sent a video to climate activist Greta Thunberg teasing her about how many cars he had. Ironically, the police seized 15 from Tate’s collection after the raid.

According to international media reports, Romanian courts have decided to add another 30 days to Tate and his brother Tristan’s detention today. It’s the fourth time that this has happened, as both are being accused of trafficking women for prostitution and local law enforcement believes that they may run away from the country if on bail. At the moment, Andrew Tate is set to be released on March 29. However, the date may be extended once more if the current trend persists.
