Well, that was easy. Nvidia's RTX 4070 went on sale this morning, but unlike some past graphics card launches, the product was readily in stock, possibly due to low demand.
We woke up this morning, wondering if the graphics card might sell out quickly since it starts at $599, making it the most affordable desktop GPU in the RTX 4000 series. However, the product was easy to buy and remains in stock at retailers, including Newegg and Amazon.
Newegg began sales at 6 a.m. PST and since then, the company’s site(Opens in a new window) continues to have over a dozen RTX 4070 models up for sale. In another rarity, Amazon also had a few models(Opens in a new window) up for sale(Opens in a new window) and in stock on launch day, along with the retailer ANT Online.
However, we did encounter struggles with Best Buy’s site, the exclusive seller for the Founders Edition RTX 4070 model. The retailer began sales at around 6:40 a.m. PST, but after going through a digital queue, Best Buy told us it had sold out of the product.
We also tried to buy several other RTX 4070 models, but came up short. Best Buy’s website forced us to spend over 20 minutes in a digital queue to buy them only to tell us the products had sold out, too.
Still, the overall ample supplies for the RTX 4070 may point to low demand for Nvidia’s newest crop of GPUs amid sluggish PC sales. Nvidia’s other GPU, the RTX 4070 Ti, launched back in January, and it too failed to sell out on launch day.
