Diablo 4 Announces Mother’s Day Weekend Beta
Diablo 4 is getting another beta prior to its June release. We had a pretty good idea that Diablo 4 would hold another test weekend, given recent remarks from the higher-ups at Blizzard, but now we have a confirmation and date from Diablo general manager Rod Fergusson.
Diablo 4 will host a "Blessed Mother's Day Weekend" from May 12 to May 14. Fergusson called this a "server slam," so the point of this beta appears to be stress-testing Diablo 4's server capacity. Players will also get to experience "all the updates since the [previous] Betas and get the Ashava horn trophy by killing Ashava at level 20."

Server capacity and connection reliability have been the biggest complaints from Diablo 4 players since last month's early access and beta tests. Login queues of over an hour prevented many Diablo fans from playing at all, while random disconnects meant that those same players often had to continue waiting again and again. That didn't necessarily stop fans from waiting, but it did harken back to the disastrous launch of Diablo 3 over a decade ago.
It seems Blizzard has remembered the lesson of Diablo 3 well and is looking to make sure that its servers don't crumble under the onslaught of eager Diablo players.
It doesn't look like there's going to be significant new content for players to experience during the Mother's Day beta, but there's plenty of time for Blizzard to announce something between now and then. Or they might surprise players by not announcing anything at all, as they did prior to the first betas.
