AMD has announced that the full source code of FSR 3 is now available for developers using DX12 and Unreal Engine 5.
Following the release of AMD's FSR 3 in September, the latest technology within the FiedilityFX suite is now available with its full source code going live at GPUOpen. The latest version is available from the new v3.0.3 release which offers:
Furthermore, the latest version of AMD's FSR 3 is also available which adds further image quality improvements, and extends support for VRR (Variable Refresh Rate) monitors within their frame pacing logic.
AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution 3 technology includes both upscaling and frame generation. AMD FSR 2 is therefore superseded by FSR 3. Developers only need to integrate FSR 3 to benefit from upscaling and frame generation.
Frame generation in FSR 3 is optional – it can be disabled if only upscaling is desired. This will effectively revert behavior to be equivalent to FSR 2.
Default FSR 3 API behavior requires an FSR 3 quality mode to be selected for FSR 3 Frame Generation.
A DLL integration is strongly recommended for debug and future compatibility purposes.

The new update also allows developers to integrate FSR 3 using the AMD FiedlityFX SDK DLL for easier debugging. AMD calls this method to be more future-proof in terms of API compatibility in future updates. The red team also recommends enabling Hardware Accelerated GPU scheduling (HAGS) in Windows OS for the best results with FSR 3 Frame generation. The technology is currently supported by AMD's RDNA 3 GPUs such as:
AMD FSR 3 is currently available in three AAA titles which include Forspoken, Immortals of Aveum, and more recently, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora. AMD has plans to increase the support list of FSR
