James Gunn, the co-CEO of DC Studios, has given fans a to start off the year.
On Threads, Gunn was asked for a progress update for Peacemaker Season 2. The first season debuted in January of 2022 — prior to the leadership change at DC. Though the series was confirmed to still be happening following the shift, Gunn is directing Superman: Legacy first.
In response to the question, the filmmaker revealed that Peacemaker Season 2 is “over halfway written,” with Gunn having previously confirmed he’s been writing the show since at least last October.
You can see his reply on Threads below:
Based on the characters from DC, Peacemaker is written, directed, and created by Gunn. Executive producers are Gunn, Cena, Peter Safran, and Matt Miller. The series was produced by Troll Court Entertainment and The Safran Company in association with Warner Bros. Television.
Peacemaker Season 1 starred John Cena as Peacemaker, Danielle Brooks as Leota Adebayo, Jennifer Holland as Emilia Harcourt, Freddie Stroma as Adrian Chase/Vigilante, Steve Agee as John Economos, Chukwudi Iwuji as Murn, Robert Patrick as Auggie Smith/White Dragon, and more. It’s unclear which characters will return for the next installment, but Gunn previously teased that he’s planning to establish more DC connections into the next chapter, following Ezra Miller and Jason Momoa’s surprise appearances during the Season 1 finale.
Season 1 is now available for streaming on Max.
