Mainframe Industries has a brief update on when we can expect to see a new playtest for its upcoming cloud-based sandbox, Pax Dei.
The team shared a new messagein the official Discord today saying that the team is back after their holiday break. As they’re hopefully well-rested now in this new year, it looks like they’re ready to start ramping things up and preparing for a new test. This test will happen sometime in the first quarter of this year. This is the same window that they revealed late last year, so this just reaffirms the window.
So, while this isn’t new info and more specifics are yet to come, the confirmation does set things up for when they are ready for new reveals. Before the team took their break, they announced some of the possibilities they’re looking at in terms of monetization models. In that update, they talked about a basic subscription, but also the potential for a PLEX-like system, as well as some way for people to try the game out. This would also have to allow for testing the mechanics, but not allow griefing or destruction of what others have bult. In terms of having a large-scale sandbox, particularly when shared world real estate comes at a premium, there also has to be ways to prevent inactivity.
There was much info there, even at this early phase, but the team asked for feedback on everything. The community has delivered, as they thank everyone for their input in today’s new message. With that, they promise to get into the topic in much deeper ways somewhere down the line.
So as for that next test? Nothing specific yet, but if you sign up and link your Discord to a Pax Dei account, you’ll have a better chance.
