According to One Take News, Star Wars vet Temuera Morrison is reportedly joining the of Lucasfilm’s newest Disney+ series starring Rosario Dawson as the titular fan-favorite former Jedi.
Should his addition to the Ahsoka cast be made official, Morrison would finally be playing the live-action version of Star Wars: The Clone Wars character Captain Rex, who was voiced by Dee Bradley Baker. He is one of the few clones that were able to resist the infamous Order 66 after Ahsoka removed his inhibitor chip. Besides The Clone Wars, Captain Rex also appeared in other animated shows, including Rebels and The Bad Batch.
“Set after the fall of the Empire, Ahsoka follows the former Jedi knight Ahsoka Tano as she investigates an emerging threat to a vulnerable galaxy,” reads the official description of the Star Wars show.
Ahsoka is written by Dave Filoni, who is executive producing along with Jon Favreau and Kathleen Kennedy. After making her live-action debut in The Mandalorian, Rosario Dawson is reprising her role as the titular Jedi.
The series will also feature Natasha Liu Bordizzo as Sabine Wren, Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Hera Syndulla, Eman Esfandi as Ezra Bridger, Ivanna Sakhno as Shin Hati, Ray Stevenson as Baylan Skoll and Wes Chatham, with Obi-Wan Kenobi star Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker and Andor actress Genevieve O’Reilly. It has also been confirmed that Lars Mikkelsen, who has voiced Thrawn in the animated Star Wars Rebel series, has joined the series to portray the fan-favorite villain in live-action.
Ahsoka is scheduled to make its debut in August 2023, exclusively on Disney+.
