Actor Ray Stevenson, best known for starring roles such as Volstagg in the Thor films and the upcoming Star Wars show Ahsoka has passed away at the age of 58. Stevenson made his film debut alongside Helena Bonham Carter in The Theory of Flight in 1998 and quickly made a name for himself as a great contemporary character actor.
The news was first reported by Italian news stations and confirmed by Variety via his publicist. The cause is currently unknown.
Stevenson recently made his Indian cinematic debut playing the imperialist villain in S.S. Rajamouli's Oscar-winning film RRR. His next role is scheduled to be the mysterious Baylan Skoll in the live-action Ahsoka series. Stevenson also provided the voice for Gar Saxon in both Star Wars: Clone Wars and Star Wars: Rebels.
Stevenson is also one of the few actors to have played two roles at Marvel Studios as he was the Punisher/Frank Castle in Punisher: War Zone, which is mostly based on Gerry Conway, Ross Andru, and John Romita, Sr.'s run with the character in the comics. He also voiced Punisher for the children's show, Super Hero Squad.
His final completed film was Accident Man: Hitman's Holiday, co-starring Scott Adkins.
