A new trailer for Ahsoka revealed that the Disney+ show will premiere on August 23. Most of the footage is from the previously released teaser trailer, but there are a few new surprises.
Ahsoka will pick up after the conclusion of the cartoon Rebels. It sees the return (and live-action debut) of characters like Ezra Bridger, Hera Syndulla, Sabine Wren, and the rambunctious droid Chopper. The new trailer shows all of this off, including Hera engaging in some high-flying battles, Sabine looking wistfully at a hologram of Ezra, and a fleeting glimpse at general Thrawn, whom Ahsoka calls the «heir to the empire.»
In new reveals, the trailer shows Sabine Wren wielding Ezra's lightsaber and combatting a white-haired woman using an orange lightsaber. It also features the return of Huyang, a droid character last seen in Clone Wars. The droid assisted young Jedi in constructing their lightsabers and was played by David Tennant, best known for his role as the tenth doctor in Doctor Who. In other returning characters, Hayden Christensen will reprise his role as Anakin Skywalker, though whether that will be in a flashback or as a force ghost is yet to be seen. Actor Ray Stevenson, who has a role in Ahsoka as another one of the mysterious lightsaber wielders, recently passed away at 58.
