For the longest time, Grand Theft Auto developer Rockstar Games had managed to carve out a reputation for creating grand open world titles full of exquisite detail with nary a bug in sight. Much like Witcher developer CD Projekt Red and Cyberpunk 2077, all that work to build that reputation was flushed down the toilet upon the disastrous release of the GTA Trilogy, supposed remasters of the GTA 3, Vice City, and San Andreas that were some of the worst received games of 2021. The Rockstar name no longer guaranteed a minimum level of quality.
With rumors circulating that Rockstar is now planning to release a remaster/remake of the first Red Dead Redemption, with an updated website and a recent Korean rating adding fuel to the fire, fans can't help but cast their minds back to the release of the GTA Trilogy remasters and worry about how much effort Rockstar might be putting into giving Red Dead Redemption the updated release that it deserves.
