The iPhone 15 lineup was previously reported to go through the mass production phase later this month, and with a larger initial shipments target, Apple expects demand for the newer models to go through the roof. The technology giant is now rumored to have issued instructions to its supply chain to start stocking the new models in the month of July, likely to have ample inventory for customers for when the purchasing frequencies increase, particularly during the holiday quarter.
The report published on ITHome also mentions the shipment estimates from Barclays, stating that the iPhone 15 is expected to usher in a ‘super cycle,’ with shipments possibly reaching 89 million units for 2023. This figure is 14 percent higher than the 78 million units of the iPhone 14 shipped last year. It has also been reported that Foxconn will be Apple’s biggest assembly partner for the year, receiving between 50-60 percent of iPhone 15 orders.
In the second place, we have Luxshare, accounting for between 20-25 percent of iPhone 15 shipments, and in last place, there is Pegatron, handling 15-20 percent of all orders. Just like on previous occasions, Foxconn is said to exclusively mass produce the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max, with Luxshare being the secondary supplier to keep up with shipments in case Foxconn’s primary facility suffers another setback like last year.
The shipment percentage of iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro models was not discussed in the report, but given that the more premium models will have more exclusive upgrades, it is likely that Apple has informed its supply chain about stocking up more iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max units as these two will be in high demand.
