With the massive success of Money In The Bank despite the lack of high-end star power, WWE may be trying to recreate the same magic with the Extreme Rules premium live event in October. There were no major men's title matches at the Money In The Bank premium live event. Ronda Rousey defended the SmackDown Women's Championship against Natalya—and after successfully doing so, had Liv Morgan cash in her MITB briefcase—while Theory dropped the United States Championship to Bobby Lashley.
Roman Reigns was nowhere to be seen, however, and he's yet to defend the unified championship at a premium live event since winning at WrestleMania 38. He fought Riddle on an episode of Friday Night SmackDown, but, predictably, The Tribal Cheif won that bout. Meanwhile, Brock Lesnar won't be on television all that much in the build toward SummerSlam. It sounds like saving bigger stars for more major events might be WWE's plan as they slowly build towards WrestleMania season.

In the July 11 edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer noted that "Reigns, Lesnar and Rousey are all not being advertised for the Extreme Rules PPV on 10/8 in Philadelphia." Not much is known about the premium live event, given that Money In The Bank just wrapped up and the build to SummerSlam is on, but this is certainly noteworthy a few months out from the show.
Plans can change in an instant. WWE fans have seen that time and time again.
