12 new episodes of the Pokémon Horizons anime are now available on BBC iPlayer.
The series, which debuted on the BBC earlier this year in the UK, and on Netflix in regions outside of the UK, is being released in batches of episodes, rather than all at once.
Starring dual protagonists Liko and Roy, and their respective partner Pokémon, Sprigatito and Fuecoco, the Horizons series takes place in the Paldea region, which is the same setting as Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.
The current batch of episodes follows the gang as they track down a Black Rayquaza, an extremely rare Pokémon. Terapagos, a new Pokémon that debuted in the recent Pokémon Scarlet and Violet DLC, The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero, is also a main character in the series.
Following the conclusion of Ash Ketchum’s story, Pokémon Horizons is the first new mainline animated Pokémon series released in more than 25 years.
VGC’s Pokémon Horizons review called it the “reinvention the Pokémon anime desperately needed”.
The next game in the Pokémon franchise, Pokémon Legends Z-A, was recently announced.
The game, which will be the second Pokémon Legends game following Pokémon Legends Arceus, was revealed during a Pokémon Presents showcase last month.
