In a game as massive as , it should come as no surprise that there are twists and turns to the plot. With such an epic plot full of adventure and romance, these twists can catch some off guard. From character motivations to shocking identity reveals, 's story has plenty to keep even those coming back for yet another playthrough on their toes.

Set over 120 years after, sees the rise of a new dangerous cult linked to mind flayers and seeking world domination. With many different endings that depend on choices made throughout the plot, cannot be fully experienced in a single playthrough. With that in mind, although there is still plenty to surprise during a repeat playthrough, there are some key story moments that will only be as impactful once.

Once in the Shadow-Cursed Lands in Act 2 Mizora, Wyll’s patron, will pay the camp a little visit. She has a mission for Wyll, and the rest of the party to rescue one of Zariel’s ‘assets’ who has been grabbed by the cultist of the Absolute. This is a great opportunity to negotiate with Mizora to try to free Wyll from his contract with her.

The twist comes when reaching the Mind Flayer Colony under Moonrise Towers and discovering that Mizora herself is the one who needs rescuing and is trapped in one of the mind flayer pods. There is then a choice to save her or leave her to die, but as killing her will also mean Wyll dies as well, letting her out of the pod is the best option.
