Guardians of the Galaxy star opened up about her performance as Gamora in the last two Avengers movies: and. Marvel fans last saw Saldaña’s fan-favorite character in James Gunn’s 2023 threequel Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, which serves as the acclaimed actress’ last stint as Gamora.
During a recent interview, while reflecting on her time in the MCU, Saldaña admitted that she wishes she could reshoot her scenes in Infinity War and Endgame after realizing that she missed the opportunity to explore her character’s father-daughter bond with Josh Brolin’s Thanos.

“I wish I could go back and reshoot what Gamora was going through in the Avengers movies,” Saldañ said (via Variety). “I don’t think I was quite understanding what the Russo Brothers [were doing]. I wish that I could go back and redo it so that I can push a little harder because it was such a great opportunity to play a daughter having issues with a dad.”
She continued, “And whether or not she’s having this opportunity to reconciliate or to heal or to repair or simply just walk away from this person — that would have been a great opportunity had I been a little more aware of it back then.”
At the moment, Marvel Studios is currently preparing for its next Avengers movies, which are expected to debut on May 1, 2026, and May 7, 2027. So far, the only confirmed cast members for Avengers: Doomsday are The Fantastic Four cast consisting of Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach. They will be joined by returning MCU vet Robert Downey Jr., who has signed on to play the role of Dr. Doom. As for Avengers: Secret Wars, The Fantastic Four will also be featured in the film.
