Ys 10 launched in Japan last year, but we're finally getting a Western version with English audio this Fall.
As reported Gematsu, Falcon's newest action RPG will be available on PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch, and PC. If you'd prefer, it can be played with Japanese audio, but only on PC.
We're once again playing the role of Adol Christin, but this time he's joined by a new character, the pirate Karja Balta. The two get caught in a war between the Normans and Griegr, unkillable warriors, set against the backdrop of Obelia Gulf.
Given that there are two protagonists, you'll be able to swap between them during fights. In the release trailer, we also see ship combat, lending to the namesake Nordic and pirate themes, as well as a grappling hook used for traversal.
Ys 8: Lacrimosa of DANA and 9: Monstrum Nox are available with PS Plus Extra. Alternatively, you can buy them for £20.99 and £49.99 respectively.
While there's no concrete release date yet, we do know that a limited edition is underway to accompany the Western launch. NIS America has told players to "stay tuned", with more information to come.
The ship seen in the trailer that we fight with is called Sandras, and according to the wiki, around 20 percent of the game features naval combat. That means you can upgrade the ship (and your crew) while traversing the ocean to find islands chock full of loot. There are also merchant ships you can trade with and enemies you can board.
You don't need to play the latest games to stay in the loop as Ys 10 is set right after Ys 2: Ancient Ys Vanished: The Final Chapter which launched way back in 1988.
In Nordics, Adol is 17, venturing to Celceta with Dogi and Dr Flair Rall. It's on the way that he runs into the Normans and Griegers, starting his newest adventure.
That means that the chronological order is now as follows:
It's a little confusing, but you can jump straight in with 10 and worry about the continuity later. It's probably for the best, that way.
