Xbox Game Pass has added the first games of 2024 in the first wave for January. While the new update doesn’t include any new games, it does feature several larger titles. It begs the question of whether other games, namely those from Activision Blizzard King, will join the service sometime later this year. All games launch before the middle of January.
There’s a slight theme of scares and frights in this wave of games, as several titles are horror or horror-related. These include horror-adventure title Close to the Sun (which launches today), creepy survival adventure game We Happy Few (January 11), reimagined classic survival horror title Resident Evil 2 Remake and psychological horror title Those Who Remain (both January 16).
The other games in the update include Ubisoft’s massive Viking adventure title Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla and story-based action-adventure game Figment (both January 9). Rounding out the latest wave are online World War 2 battle sim Hell Let Loose (January 4) and sports title Super Mega Baseball 4, which joins via EA Play (January 11).
Unfortunately for Game Pass subscribers, gaining some games means losing others, and some of Game Pass’s most interesting titles are on the chopping block for mid-January. Namely, Grand Theft Auto V goes away (again), as does Persona 4 Golden, Persona 3 Portable, MotoGP 22 and Garden Story. GTA V leaves the platform on January 5, while the four others leave on January 15.
