frequently patches that can completely alter game mechanics. As an ever-evolving MMORPG, these patch decisions can sometimes make or break specific classes. After was released at the end of August 2024, Blizzard ensured its player base that changes would be upcoming to tweak the new Hero Talent mechanics. That time has come and with a hefty patch released that not only alters the classes and their talents but opens up six new classes for one of the races.
One of the primary functions of Patch 11.0.5 is to introduce the new 20th Anniversary Event that is scheduled to last from October 22, 2024, through January 6, 2025, but the class changes and talents have made a more significant impact in the most patch notes released. This major overhaul affects every class in some fashion, even if it is simply a renaming of a passive talent, so many players should be on the lookout for changes to their talent trees and UI systems. Although each class was not given the same amount of attention in this update, it is assumed that they will be shifted in further updates.
With the expansion of the Dracthyr race to classes outside the Evoker class, there are new mechanics and methods available for exploration. Choosing to play as this race allows players to fight in either their dragon or human form, depending upon preference. Blizzard has expanded the Dracthyr race with six additional classes now open for them: mage, priest, warrior, hunter, warlock, or rogue.
This does not apply to the Evoker class, as they are still required to be in the dragon form while in combat. The Dracthyr have also had their Racial Abilities altered to accommodate the class expansion.
Many of the integral benefits of playing as a Dracthyr character, such as Glide or Wing Buffet, will notice that these abilities have shifted slightly to allow for class expansion. Tail Swipe will also no longer be the racial talent for the Dracthyr and will now be a baseline for players who choose to level as an Evoker.
