Speaking with Empire Magazine, Cox explained how Marvel Studios‘ new Daredevil show will build off the events of the Netflix series.
“There was talk early on about reinventing the whole thing, to see if Matt was a slightly different person. But it ended up more of a continuation,” he said. “…A lot of the history follows on. The relationships and dynamics set up in the previous seasons still exist.”
Cox added, “A few years have passed. In that time, Matt, Foggy, and Karen have found a pretty good rhythm.”
While Cox said that the series begins with Matt having “made peace with his role both as a lawyer and a vigilante,” he noted that “sh-t hits the fan” when he’s forced to deal with Wilson Fisk/Kingpin’s mayoral campaign.
Fisk is played by Vincent D’Onofrio, while the cast of Daredevil: Born Again also includes Margarita Levieva, Ayelet Zurer, Michael Gandolfini, and more. Additionally, Jon Bernthal is reprising his role as Frank Castle/Punisher in the show, while Wilson Bethel returns as Benjamin “Dex” Poindexter.
Daredevil: Born Again, which consists of a nine-episode first season, premieres on Disney+ on March 4, 2025, as part of Phase Five of the MCU. The first three seasons of the Netflix Marvel Daredevil series are also available to watch
