Google just revealed its picks for 2024’s best apps, games and books. There are some expected names while others? Not so much. So, who went home with the crown? Keep reading to know about all the winners of the Google Play Awards 2024.
The Best Game of the year went to AFK Journey, the fantasy RPG by Farlight and Lilith Games. With epic battles and huge character lineups, the game’s vast world and stunning art helped it bag the award. It’s kind of surprising though that an ‘Away From Keyboard’ idle game bagged this award. But nonetheless, I agree with Google’s reasoning of the exploration and visuals that the game offers.
Next, Supercell’s Clash of Clans earned the Best Multi-Device Game of the Year award. It’s gone beyond just mobile, expanding to PCs and Chromebooks, so that was pretty much what made it win the award. You can now raid villages, build armies and dominate clans on your phone, tablet or desktop.
Among the rest of the awards include Supercell’s Squad Busters snagged the Best Multiplayer game award. Next, NetEase Games’ Eggy Party is the Best Pick Up & Play winner because of its easy-to-dive-into features.
The next category, Best Story, saw a surprise win. It’s Solo Leveling: Arise, which in my opinion is a good game but not for its story. Well, maybe that’s not what most other players out there think. Nonetheless, this was the most surprising name on the list of Google Play Awards 2024, in my opinion.
Developed by Brave at Night and published by Noodlecake on Android, Yes, Your Grace took home the Best Indie title. This game dropped on mobile this year and is already a popular RPG since it dropped on PC in 2020.
Honkai: Star Rail got Best Ongoing, continuing to be a favourite with regular updates and loads of content. Tab Time World by Kids at Play won in the Best for Families category. Play Pass subscribers got a winner in Kingdom Rush 5: Alliance. And lastly, for Google Play Games on PC, Cookie Run: Tower of Adventures bagged the award.
