Jack Black Is Steve in New Trailer for Live-Action A Minecraft Movie
A new trailer for the live-action has been released.
A Minecraft Movie is the new forthcoming, live-action film that is based on the popular 2011 video game developed by Mojang Studios. It stars Jack Black as Steve, while the cast also includes Jason Momoa, Emma Myers, Danielle Brooks, Sebastian Eugene Hansen, and more.

“Welcome to the world of Minecraft, where creativity doesn’t just help you craft, it’s essential to one’s survival! Four misfits—Garrett “The Garbage Man” Garrison (Momoa), Henry (Hansen), Natalie (Myers) and Dawn (Brooks)—find themselves struggling with ordinary problems when they are suddenly pulled through a mysterious portal into the Overworld: a bizarre, cubic wonderland that thrives on imagination,” the synopsis for the film reads. “To get back home, they’ll have to master this world (and protect it from evil things like Piglins and Zombies, too) while embarking on a magical quest with an unexpected, expert crafter, Steve (Black). Together, their adventure will challenge all five to be bold and to reconnect with the qualities that make each of them uniquely creative…the very skills they need to thrive back in the real world.”
Jennifer Coolidge is also voicing a character in A Minecraft Movie, which is directed by Jared Hess. Hess’ previous filmography includes 2004’s Napoleon Dynamite, 2006’s Nacho Libre, 2009’s Gentlemen Broncos, 2015’s Don Verdean, 2016’s Masterminds, and 2024’s Thelma the Unicorn, the latter of which he co-directed with Lynn Wang.
Momoa serves as a producer on the movie with Roy Lee, Jon Berg, Mary Parent, Cale Boyter, Jill Messick, Torfi Frans Olafsson, and Vu Bui. Todd Hallowell, Kayleen Walters, Brian Mendoza, Jonathan Spaihts, Pete Chiappetta, Andrew Lary, and Anthony Tittanegro serve as executive producers.
A Minecraft Movie releases in United States theaters on April 4, 2025, from Warner Bros. Pictures.
