With over a thousand monsters to catch and collect, each of them are bound to be somebody's favorite due to their unique and memorable designs. Although many Fairy-type Pokémon tend to be some of the cutest creatures in the entire franchise, there are also numerous adorable Ice-type Pokémon that exist as well.
The Ice-type in Pokémon might often be overlooked compared to others like Dragon or Fire, but it cannot be denied that there are numerous Pokémon with this typing that are beloved by many. Across the current nine generations, there have been many Ice-type Pokémon that have been primarily notable due to their adorable designs as opposed to their combat prowess or stats. Even though many Ice-types exist, there are some whose cuteness makes them stand out from the rest.
The original version of Sandshrew from the Kanto region was already quite adorable on its own, and the Alolan version is just as cute and memorable. As one of the first regional variants to be introduced in, this Ice-type variant immediately caught people's attention as well as their hearts with its short round body and big blue eyes. Although its evolution seems rather menacing, this version of Sandshrew retains its original cuteness and harmless demeanor.
There are plenty of Pokémon that deserve regional variants but never got them, and were passed over in favor of odd choices like Stunfisk.
Unlike its Ground-type counterpart, this version of Sandshrew cannot curl up into a ball thanks to its extremely hard shell. Instead, it traverses through the mountains by sliding through the snow on its belly. An adorable tradition in the Alola region involves sliding Alolan Sandshrew around on the ice to see which can go the farthest, which sounds like a very fun and adorable activity featuring such a cute Pokémon.
