's newest set of cosmetics pays homage to a classic trainer from the original games in an interesting pose. In addition to collecting new cards, also provides players a chance to collect a variety of different cosmetic items to display during matches. Usually, these cosmetics have some sort of unifying theme, with some sets focused on a specific Pokémon and other sets focused on specific trainers from the games.
As part of the new Charmander and Squirtle Wonder Drop event, has added several new backdrops, coins, and other cosmetic items. A total of seven new cosmetics will be released, including a coin and emblem featuring Blastoise, a binder, mat, and card sleeves featuring both Blastoise and the trainer Blue from the original games, and two card backdrops. As to why Blue and Blastoise are featured in this event, both the Pokémon and Trainer have appeared recently in other in-game events or sets. Blue was a featured Trainer in theset and Blastoise is featured in a still-running Blastoise Drop event that focuses on solo battles. Blastoise also received a new alternate art promo card as part of the Blastoise Drop event, which features solo battles against decks built around Blastoise.

The biggest takeaway from the new Wonder Pick event (other than Blue showing off his backside to fans) is that is starting to add Flair related to popular trainers. Prior to the release of the Blue-themed flair, 's only trainer-related Flair (outside of Emblems) featured Erika and could only be purchased using premium currency. This event is a sign that other trainers, like Sabrina, Giovanni, or Leaf, could eventually make their way onto card sleeves and mats.
