Created by TED and Frosty Pop, TED Tumblewords is the latest game published by Netflix Games. It’s a brain teaser for word nerds and puzzle enthusiasts. The other games by the developer include Wheel of Fortune Daily and The Get Out Kids.
It’s a grid of scrambled letters which challenges you to create the longest, most complex words possible. Slide the rows around, rearrange and craft words. There are bonus letters on the board, and if you nail those, your score skyrockets.
You can play against the TED bot, face off with a friend or challenge some random player. You earn Knowledge Points as you play, unlocking new cards and themes based on topics like design, science or psychology.
TED Tumblewords offers daily challenges as well with three to tackle every day. In the Daily Match, you test your mettle against the TED bot. Then there’s the Daily Six, which is more about high scores. The Daily Ladder is the ultimate level where your goal here is to uncover as many words as you can before the grid clears.

Every challenge in TED Tumblewords comes with rewards like collectible cards packed with fascinating facts tied to your topic of choice. You can learn about the psychology of superstition or dive into health facts.
The rounds are short in TED Tumblewords, which I think makes it a great game. You also get to see some inspiring quotes from TED Talks popping up as you play. I really liked those little nuggets of motivation.
If you’re a wordsmith (and a Netflix subscriber), then grab TED Tumblewords from the Google Play Store.
