If you are a Netflix subscriber and play Grand Theft Auto on Android via Netflix Games, then there are going to be some major changes soon. Well, GTA III and GTA Vice City are the ones leaving Netflix Games next month.
It isn’t some random move. Netflix licenses games much like it does movies and series. So, the licenses of these two GTA games are expiring next month. In fact, you’ll spot a ‘Leaving Soon’ label on such games before they bid farewell.
GTA III and Vice City joined the Netflix Games platform exactly a year ago. Netflix’s initial agreement with Rockstar Games was for 12 months. So, these two GTA games will no longer be available for Netflix subscribers post December 13th.
If you’ve been diving into the chaos of Grand Theft Auto III or cruising the neon-soaked streets of Vice City through Netflix, it’s time to wrap up your misadventures. However, CJ and the gang from San Andreas aren’t going anywhere just yet.
If you are yet to finish these games, you can always grab them from the Google Play Store. Check out The Definite Editions of Grand Auto Theft III and Vice City on Google Play. You’ll need to pay $4.99 for each while the entire trilogy can be grabbed at $11.99.
But unlike Samurai Shodown V and WrestleQuest that just disappeared from Netflix’s roster last year, at least this time they’re letting players know that GTA is leaving the platform soon. It’s funny that Rockstar Games is not renewing their license with Netflix Games since the latter gained a lot of subscribers in 2023 solely due to the game trilogy.
However, rumour has it that Rockstar and Netflix are working together and we could see remastered versions of Liberty City Stories, Vice City Stories and even Chinatown Wars in the future. So, let’s hope the rumour turns out to be true!
