The video features two best friends who are talking to each other about their potential plans after graduating from high school. However, their conversation suddenly becomes strange after Yoshiki reveals that he knows the person he’s talking to isn’t really his best friend, Hikaru.
The Summer Hikaru Died is directed by Ryohei Takeshita with Yuichi Takahashi attached as the chief animation direction. The series features the voices of lead stars Chiaki Kobayashi as Yoshiki Tsujinaka and Shuichiro Umeda as Hikaru Indou. It is a production of CygamesPictures.
“Reading the original work was exciting, and I pondered how to express its frames in animation,” Takeshita said in a statement. “Our team was very dedicated to capturing the delicate emotions of Yoshiki and Hikaru, as well as the manga’s beautiful and innovative structure. We look forward to sharing it with you.”
