With Patch 7 introducing a built-in mod manager, and Patch 8 coming with even more support for mods, it's easier than ever to create new content for . Fans have created impressive additions to one of their favorite games, such as a whole new questline based on 's Spelljammer. As the game nears the end of updates, it's clear that fans won't be running out of new content anytime soon.
There's lots of content that didn't make it into the final version of the game. has scrapped Origin characters, areas, plotlines and more. For a game as large as, this was obviously inevitable — many of these cuts ensured the game's quality in the long-run, though this hasn't stopped fans from being disappointed, knowing their gameplay experience could've been much different. With Larian assuring mods can be added smoothly, it may be a good idea for modders to turn to old content plans for ideas.
A Steam user called Settings created a comprehensive post detailing all fans know to have been cut from at some point during development, and one of the things mentioned was that Avernus was originally going to be an explorable area, "." In the epilogue scenario where the player and/or Wyll takes Karlach to Avernus, she will mention that she found some blueprints in Avernus to fix her engine. This implies that this could've been the original direction intended for the end of Karlach's story, and that the player would've found the blueprints themselves.
Karlach's dialogue after an ending where the player comes with her to Avernus would still make sense if they found the blueprints during their campaign. A new quest where the player traverses Avernus, putting blueprints together, could be added in smoothly — perhaps somewhere during the House of Hope questline. There are already several infernal enemies in the game, such as imps, cambions, and several types of demons. All that really needs to be added on top of that is a new area, and perhaps some unique items.
