Sofia Coppola in the ‘Very Early Stages’ of Writing Her Next Movie
is hard at work on her next movie, revealing that she’s begun the early stages of writing her follow-up to 2023’s Priscilla.
Speaking to Vogue in a recent profile on the filmmaker, Coppola revealed that she’s in the “very early stages” of working on a new movie. She didn’t delve too far into what to expect, but did say that she’s become excited about it the more that she’s worked on it.
“I am in the very early stages of something, but I got distracted with making books. One of my goals for the new year is to get back to writing,” Coppola said. “I have the beginning figured out, but I don’t quite know where it’s going yet and if it’ll turn into something. But I’m excited about it.”
Currently, nothing else is known about Coppola’s newest film. Her latest film, 2023’s Priscilla, was critically acclaimed and earned Cailee Spaeny a Best Actress nomination at the Golden Globe Awards. The daughter of legendary director Francis Ford Coppola, Sofia has directed several high-profile projects, including The Beguiled, Lost in Translation, Marie Antoinette, The Virgin Suicides, and The Bling Ring.
Outside of the world of movies, Coppola also released the book Archive in 2023, which is a collection of behind-the-scenes content, scripts, and photographs of the development of a number of her films.
