Barry and Kim Plath's rocky marriage has been a major Welcome to Plathville season 4 story line, and although their future divorce isn't surprising, fans aren't happy with how Kim brought up the subject with their younger daughters during the June 28 episode. When Welcome to Plathville season 1 debuted in 2019, Barry and Kim were a solid team, who set strict rules that their children had to follow. As devout Christian fundamentalists, the Plath parents forbade their kids from consuming popular indulgences like soda, sugar, and modern technology.
Although fans have criticized Barry and Kim's marriage since the start of Welcome to Plathville, it wasn't until season 4 that serious cracks started to show. While their kids have started to move out and enjoy their lives as adults, Kim has also tapped into a new lifestyle. Besides now owning a dance studio, Kim dresses less modestly, has more friends, and has generally become a little less strict. This is because, after 24 years of marriage, Kim has finally decided that she is ready to embrace life as a woman, and explore her identity outside of being a wife.
