WB Games Montreal is now looking for a Creative Director to help with an upcoming AAA game supposedly based on a popular franchise. Warner Bros’ gaming division has had a mixed output over the past year or so. Hogwarts Legacy became one of the highest-selling games of 2023, and Mortal Kombat 1 was quickly hailed as an excellent installment in the long-running fighting franchise. On the other hand, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League ultimately fell short of Warner Bros Discovery’s expectations at the beginning of this year.
Meanwhile, WB Games Montreal has had its own wave of mixed success through various licensed projects over the years. After building on Rocksteady’s Arkhamverse in 2013’s Batman: Arkham Origins, WB Games Montreal branched out into its own DC-based continuity with Gotham Knights, a more team-centric title that shifted the spotlight toward Batman’s former sidekicks as they banded together to defend Gotham City following their mentor’s death. The game ultimately proved divisive, though players did enjoy the idea of roaming the crime-plagued city with their friends in online co-op.
Now WB Games Montreal is hiring a Creative Director for a new game, as revealed in a recent job listing. According to this posting, the applicant will be in charge of creating a AAA title based on a popular franchise. The job offer goes on to describe the duties of the Creative Director and the requirements WB Games Montreal is looking for, such as experience working in the game industry and familiarity with producing AAA action-adventure games.
Earlier this year, reports hinted that WB Games Montreal was working on yet another DC Comics-based title, one that would be focused on single-player and be built using Unreal Engine 5. Many fans have been hoping that this still-unknown project will be a Superman game, especially after the long-standing rumors that Rocksteady was working on such a project were debunked by industry insiders back in November.
