The ex Starter Deck Generations decks will have nine different versions of one card to celebrate each of the franchise's generations. Unlike regular sets, which include an element of luck, these decks will have a predetermined selection of cards. Nine decks will be released as part of the Generations collection, each corresponding to a different generation from the history of the franchise.
As part of the celebrations of the nine generations of games, the Starter Deck Generations cards will also include nine variations of the Black Belt's Practice supporter card, according to PokéBeach. Although each card uses a different illustration, the card's effect remains unchanged between the versions, allowing players to do an additional 40 damage to the opponent's active ex Pokémon.
The decks in the upcoming ex Starter Deck Generations are created to celebrate the different generations. Each deck will include Pokémon from the corresponding generation, including two ex Pokémon. Many of these will be reprints, making these decks a way to get a hold of cards from fans' favorite generations in the franchise. As an extension of this, the decks will also have an extra special treat for fans, using images and designs from each generation for the trainer cards.
The Pokémon TCG Pocket app is introducing a whole new audience to the game in the hopes of getting new card game fans, and it's working.
In addition to the Black Belt cards, PokéBeach has previously reported that the decks will also have nine versions of the Professor’s Research card. Each generation's deck will include that generation's corresponding professor, from Professor Oak of the Kanto region to Professor Sada from the latest generation's Paldea. These special and generation-exclusives make these decks even more desirable, and may even encourage players to get a bundle featuring all the decks, for a complete collection.
