McDonald's will be running a (TCG) promotion for Happy Meals from late 2024 to early 2025 that revolves around Dragon-type Pokémon. As revealed by TCG fan site Pokébeach, the promotional event will take place in France between December 4 and January 21 with no currently confirmed date for U.S. enthusiasts.
fans worldwide eagerly anticipate the continuously popular publicity campaign run by the fast-food giant McDonald's, which sees a complementary booster pack of trading cards added as a toy to the children's Happy Meal. The recently revealed promotion celebrates the Year of the Dragon by adding a star-studded cast of fan-favorite Dragon-type Pokémon.
Breaking previous traditions, it seems that international markets will be rolling out the event before the U.S. market, which means that collectors in the States will have to wait patiently for any further news.
The fan site PokéBeach has confirmed that the Happy Meal will include a single four-card booster pack which will contain three non-holo cards and a single holo card. Fans will have 15 cards to collect in the promotion, of which six will be holo, highlighting some of the most beloved Dragon-type Pokémon. The revealed cards that will be featured in the event are: Charizard, Dragapult, Drampa, Dragonite, Eevee, Hatenna, Hydreigon, Jigglypuff, Koraidon, Miraidon, Pikachu, Quagsire, Rayquaza, Roaring Moon, and Umbreon. The eternally popular Charizard will of course be a huge draw for casual fans, with some other noticeably non-Dragon-types like Umbreon and Hatenna featuring in the set.
The cards will feature exclusive McDonald's numbering, with the holo cards to be printed on confetti holofoil which has only been used for the Happy Meal TCG promotions. However, as is typical for previous McDonald's cards, the cards will be reprints from historical TCG sets. The confirmed sets include Match Battle from 2022 and 2023, as well as some older cards.
This current McDonald's event marks a change from previous traditions.
