At the moment, Ubisoft Toronto is highly ambitious with the number of ongoing projects it has. This isn't limited to just the eagerly awaited Splinter Cell remake. It also includes the upcoming controversial game Star Wars: Outlaws, which is released on August 30. They are also working on the Prince of Persia: Sands of Time remake and, of course, the Splinter Cell remake.
PSU took a trip to Ubisoft Toronto predominantly to discuss behind-the-scenes looks at Star Wars: Outlaws, but also took a moment to ask them about the Splinter Cell remake. The original Splinter Cell was made in 2002 and made way for plenty of other games in the Splinter Cell franchise, with the most recent iteration being in 2013. There is no official planned release date for the Splinter Cell remake, and truthfully, no one knows how long it has left in development. Ubisoft Toronto is remaining relatively hush-hush on the matter.
The Splinter Cell remake was announced in 2021, and very minimal news has appeared since then. In 2022, David Grivel, the person who was supposed to be directing the Splinter Cell Remake, left Ubisoft after 11 years of working there. At the moment, it remains unknown who is leading the project and what sort of development stage the game is in.
When PSU visited for a hands-on of Star Wars: Outlaws, they also asked Managing Director Darryl Long about how the Splinter Cell Remake was shaping up. Much to many excited fans' dismay, he didn't really give much of an answer. Instead, he replied that it would "remain in stealth mode, for now."
Ubisoft recently had their own showcase of sorts named the Ubisoft Forward in June where many were expecting to get some answers to their long-awaited questions regarding the remake. However, those questions still remain unanswered, as there has been no information given in Forward, nor anywhere else.
