Ubisoft has delisted The Crew, which will no longer be playable from April 2024
Ubisoft has quietly delisted The Crew from digital storefronts, and confirmed that the online-only game will no longer be playable from April 2024.
As spotted by a ResetEra user, the racing game was pulled from sale on Steam today.
“All editions and additional content for The Crew are no longer available for purchase,” reads a message on Steam.
“The game will remain playable until March 31st, 2024, for all The Crew owners. After this date, the game servers will shut down, which means the game will not be accessible anymore.”
The game is also no longer purchasable on the Xbox and PlayStation stores. VGC has contacted Ubisoft for comment on its decision to pull the game from sale.
The publisher also recently confirmed plans to close the online services for 10 more of its “older games”, including four Assassin’s Creed titles, in January 2024.
The Crew is an open-world racing series developed by Ubisoft Ivory Tower, which has attracted over 40 million players since the original game was released in 2014, according to its publisher.
The Crew 2 followed in 2018, while The Crew Motorfest was released this September for PC and consoles.
Ubisoft has claimed that the new game enjoyed “the best first week for the franchise in terms of total unit sell through, overall consumer spend, and season pass adoption rate”.
Nevertheless, it discounted the game significantly just a month after its release, and following two time-limited trials, is now offering a permanent five-hour trial of the game.
