Ubisoft has added XDefiant to its software release schedule for its 2023-24 fiscal year.
The free-to-play shooter will be released during the 12-month period ending on March 31, 2024, the publisher announced on Tuesday.
As previously confirmed, Ubisoft’s 2023-24 release schedule also includes Assassin’s Creed Mirage, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Mobile, Tom Clancy’s The Division Resurgence, “another large game”, Skull and Bones and The Crew Motorfest.
A cross-play beta for XDefiant was held last month on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. The game will also be released for PS4, Xbox One and Amazon Luna.
“The XDefiant closed beta reached over 1 million players with strong viewership, community feedback and retention,” Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot said on Tuesday.
XDefiant is in development at Ubisoft San Francisco and led by executive producer Mark Rubin, who previously held the same position at Call of Duty: Modern Warfare studio Infinity Ward.
The game was initially revealed in July 2021 as Tom Clancy’s XDefiant. At the time, it only included factions from Tom Clancy franchises Splinter Cell, Ghost Recon and The Division.
But in March 2022, Ubisoft announced that it was dropping the Tom Clancy branding and introducing additional factions from its wider catalogue of IP, including Far Cry.
