Ubisoft has a few notable game projects in the works. That doesn’t mean the company is having an easy-going time. In fact, just last week, we heard Ubisoft has hit its biggest operating loss in company history. But while they have been going through a series of struggles this year, there’s at least one new project that Ubisoft is banking on for a massive worldwide appeal.
One of the games being developed that I might have forgotten about was a new Star Wars project. After EA lost its exclusive rights to develop Star Wars games, we started to see other studios dabble into the IP. Massive Entertainment was one of the studios to get the rights to develop a game. This is the studio that was responsible for Tom Clancy’s The Division franchise. Although, this is supposedly a different type of game than what you might be used to seeing from Massive Entertainment.
This news comes from Kotaku, which has sources familiar with the project. According to the report from Kotaku, the current goal is to push their Star Wars game out into the marketplace in early 2024. Of course, we knew this would be an open-world Star Wars title, but outside of that, nothing hasn’t been officially unveiled for fans. But if this is a game that Ubisoft is pushing to see released into the marketplace in early 2024, then we should see something come out marketing-wise during Ubisoft Forward.
Of course, sources tell Kotaku the early 2024 launch window is still far too soon for the project to be ready. Instead, they feel the next fiscal year, which ranges from April 2024 to March 2025, is more acceptable. Either way, this is a game we have been waiting on for a little while now. We don’t know just where this will be taking place in comparison to the canon
