Apple's iPhone 15 Pro models launched with Apple's new A17 Pro chip that packs enormous computational and graphical performance. It was recently reported that the new chip is causing the device to overheat, even so much in some cases that it is unbearable to hold. However, a prominent analyst is now stating that the overheating issues on the iPhone 15 Pro models are not due to the A17 Pro chip but the internal design and the new titanium finish.
According to industry analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the iPhone 15 Pro models are not overheating due to TSMC's 3nm A17 Pro chip. While the chip is performing as it should, the problem rests in the internal design. Kuo states that Apple made comprises in the thermal system this year to keep the weight of the device at bay. The company could have used fewer heat dissipation methods or materials so the weight of the device would not increase.
Apart from the thermal system, the use of titanium metal this year is another reason why the iPhone 15 Pro models are overheating, as it negatively contributes to thermal efficiency. Titanium was pretty well received in terms of the durability of the device, as it can withstand falls from as high as 15 feet. Additionally, it gave room to a matte finish that attracts fewer fingerprints. However, titanium also features its fair share of issues, allowing the flagship iPhone 15 Pro models to be easily scratched and scuffed. Now, there is another reason why the use of titanium is not the best decision for the company.
