Titan Quest 2 has been announced by THQ Nordic and developer Grimlore Games, reviving the 2006 action RPG with a full sequel for PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
The trailer depicts the fickle nature of Greek Mythology, with a Spartan army marching into a city under the watchful gaze of gods peering into their Threads of Fate, only for a dark corrupting influence of Nemesis, the Goddess of Retribution to burn them all from the inside out. What a way to go!
This sequel will follow in the footsteps of the original game and the 2018 remaster, remaining a top-down action RPG and looking to build on some of the core concepts of the original.
Still set within ancient Greek mythology, the game will feature its adventuring within picturesque open world environments, while battling everything from the Stymphalian birds to giant crabs (a historically accurate touch). The game will also feature a day-night cycle.
There will be a more tactical approach to the combat in Titan Quest 2, when compared to games like Diablo IV, while this game will look to further the multi-class system found in the original. You have two masteries, and Grimlore Games are trying to build even more synergies and branches into the system for deep and extensive character customisation.
Best known as the developers of SpellForce 3, Titan Quest 2 will be a slightly different challenge for Grimlore Games, though we’re keen to see what they’re able to cook up with this resurgent franchise.
