The next big livestreamed event in the games industry is Gamescom Opening Night Live 2023, scheduled to broadcast across YouTube, Twitch, and various social channels on Tuesday, August 22nd, starting at 11 AM Pacific Time (2 PM Eastern Time, 7 PM British Time, 8 PM local time).
However, it won't be a show focused on new game announcements. Organizer Geoff Keighley revealed as much in an interview with VideoGamesChronicle, where he mused that the schedule is more about updates for the big announced games due in the next twelve months or so. Two of those games were specifically singled out: Alan Wake 2 and Black Myth Wukong.

Alan Wake 2 is no surprise. After all, Remedy is a European-based studio, and its game will be published in less than two months from the date of the Gamescom Opening Night Live 2023 show.
On the other hand, the confirmation of Black Myth Wukong is definitely a welcome surprise. Last we heard, the stunning blend of Soulslike and Chinese martial arts action game in development at Game Science was targeting a generic 2024 launch window, though perhaps the developers will provide more concrete details on the release during the show. Black Myth Wukong is also rumored to be playable on the Gamescom showfloor, according to sources quoted by Insider Gaming. A playable demo available to the public would be another hint that the development is progressing smoothly.
