It has only been five days since the launch of Threads, the new Instagram app that is ready to take on Twitter, and we just received news that the app has managed to reach 100 million users. Making it one of the fastest growth for a social media app, and it has even managed to beat ChatGPT, which reached 100 million users in two months. It is safe to say that Meta's app is taking off, and for all the good reasons, they could not have picked a better time to launch the app, especially with Twitter going through many issues at the time.
Threads managed to cross 10 million downloads in just seven hours, and while at that time, many of us wondered that the traction would eventually slow down, it hasn't slowed down at all, and now it has managed to cross 100 million users. Thankfully, this number isn't just for show, as a lot of people are already using the app and doing so actively. If you head over to teh app, you will realize that there are several posts on various topics, so it is safe to say that people are engaging more and more on the platform.
Another thing that makes this growth so impressive is that Threads is not available around the world at the time. For instance, the app is still unavailable in the EU, which obviously would contribute to a lot more users, but until then, we can actually look at it and see how far this trend goes. I have not had the chance to sign up for the app just yet, but considering the pace at which it is going, I won't be surprised if I have to eventually join the platform.
