This Kingdom Hearts/Kamala Harris mashup was not on my 2024 bingo card

Which all brings me, unexpectedly, to this delirious mashup created by a Kingdom Hearts superfan on TikTok. It’s as dreamlike and mind-melting as a King Mickey monologue.

How to explain the joke? Is there a joke to even explain? I’ll do my best.
The voiceover is easy enough to understand. That’s Kamala Harris’ voice, intoning some past quotes that have now become famous meme fodder. Her “coconut tree” line is pretty well-known at this point, but basically, the saying about falling out of a coconut tree refers to how “you exist in the context of all in which you live and what came before you” (in Harris’ words). It’s the sort of saying you might also hear in a Kingdom Hearts game, though, since those games are also about identity and self-awareness. And sometimes there are coconuts.
The second Harris quote here is even more cerebral, and the Kingdom Hearts soundtrack in the background seems even more apt to accompany it. That’s Harris reflecting on “the passage of time” after having toured a library. I would say Harris’ quote here has nothing on this Reddit explanation of how time travel works in the Kingdom Hearts universe, but it still feels like it fits right into the melange.
Last but not least, we have Harris’ recipe for brining a turkey, superimposed over Kingdom Hearts 3’s cooking minigame. The mashup emphasizes the “time” and “thyme” homonym to play up the sense of trippy wonder here. Pretty great.
