This update was shared by Warner Bros. Discovery global streaming chief JB Perrette during a Wells Fargo-hosted tech and media conference. The series, created by Mike White, has gained significant attention for its critical and commercial success (via Variety).
Additional updates from the conference included the release timeline for other major HBO series. The Last of Us Season 2 is scheduled for spring 2025, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is planned for late 2025, while Euphoria Season 3 is expected to premiere in 2026. The Harry Potter TV series, still in the casting stage, is now set to debut in 2027, marking the start of what Warner Bros. Discovery describes as “a 10-year journey.”
Perrette also addressed upcoming changes to Max’s policies on account sharing. Starting in December 2024, the platform will implement a phased approach to managing shared accounts, beginning with “gentle messaging” and later offering an option to add additional members for a fee in early 2025. Stricter enforcement will follow throughout the year as the company refines its detection methods.
Current Max subscription tiers are priced at $16.99 for ad-free, $9.99 with ads, and $20.99 for the “ultimate” ad-free plan. Perrette confirmed that price increases are planned, but details about the timing and amounts were not disclosed. He stated, “We want to continue to push price as we go.”
HBO’s announcements outline its plans for major series and platform strategies in the coming years. The White Lotus and other key titles will play a significant role in shaping its content lineup.
